Upcoming Veteran's Day Service
You've been hearing about this service since we started work on the garden a few months back. But now, it's getting close. With the beginning of November quickly approaching, Sarah Lavender Brashear and Karen Lavender have been putting together an amazing service to dedicate this one of a kind memorial park.
The Arrangements
Purp's Patriot Park is located next to One Hot Cookie in Murphysboro, IL. It's just one mile north of Walnut, on 14th St. It will be dedicated on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am. Refreshments will be served at 10:00 am before the ceremony until 10:45 am. Parking will be available at Caruther's School and shuttle buses will be there to bring you to and from the ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the One Hot Cookie parking lot where there will be tent covered seating available.
The Rocks
If you've come into the shop, or know the Lavender family personally, you've been told about the rocks for Purp's Patriot Park. Anyone who would like to honor a Veteran in Purp's Patriot Park can come by One Hot Cookie and fill out a form with the Veteran's Information, as well as their own. We will then personally go through each one writing the Veterans' names on a memorial stone which will be placed out in the park. This service is free of charge. You can find the form on the "What's Happening" page of our website, or feel free to click here. However, it must be printed and brought into the shop to be accepted.
Tentative schedule includes speakers such as Illinois Veteran of the Month, Patriot's Bravo Company, and many more. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon and feel free to stop by and fill out a form to honor your Veterans!
